Want to have a big, beautiful baby? It’s easy: just stay away from pollution during your pregnancy. Yes sure. According to a just released study, babies born just ahead of the Olympics in Beijing were on an average 23 grams heavier than babies born to women at the same time of the year, but in 2007 and 2009. This is being attributed to the crackdown on air pollution by the Chinese government through 2008, the year of the Beijing Olympics. The study, published last week in Environmental Health Perspectives, used data from 83,672 full-term births from mothers in four urban districts in Beijing.
