Dr N K Venkataramana, the Chief Neurosurgeon & Founder of BRAINS, was felicitated at a glittering function in Bangalore organised by the Pratibha Puraskara Veedike under the auspices of the Telugu Vignana Samithi. Every year, this organisation honours an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to society in a particular domain. This year, the domain of choice was medical and healthcare. The event was attended by a distinguished list of guests including business leaders, eminent academicians, well-known artistes, scholars, policy makers, political leaders and a former Chief Justice of India. The felicitation witnessed massive and spontaneous outpouring of love and affection for the doctor from a large number of well-wishers who had traveled long distances and packed the Chowdiah Memorial venue for the event. The emotional response from such a large throng of people was ample testimony to the humane contributions made by the doctor over three decades of exemplary service both to neuroscience and to the lives of countless people.
