One in four of us will have problems with our mental health at some time in our lives.One in ten children has mental health problems. Getting the right help early is the key to recovery. With the advances in our understanding of mental health issues, the principles of management have changed from a pure biological model to a bio psychosocial model.

This means that medication is only part of the jigsaw in the treatment. It is equally important to address the psychosocial factors with talking therapies/counselling and support from family and friends. We incorporate talking therapies and counselling during the sessions along with medication where appropriate.

Some of the common ailments adults present with include worry/anxiety, stress,? depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, personality disorders, sexual disorders, marital problems, obsessive compulsive disorders, memory problems, drug and alcohol problems.

There are various reasons for behavioural problems in children. It could be at normal stages of development like the toddler years or adolescence when children tend to experiment with their emotions, or there could be an underlying problem like depression, anxiety, undiagnosed ADHD, ASD or learning problems.

A thorough assessment would help identify the condition and appropriate talking therapies like cognitive behaviour therapy, Exposure and response prevention in a language that is suitable for children are often very effective. Our team is trained in various forms of talking therapies and has successfully implemented these in children over the past 10 years.

Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing pain or making you feel uncomfortable. It can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. Counselling helps with problems like work related stress, low self-esteem, marital disharmony and behavioural issues in children.

More formal therapies like cognitive behaviour therapy, family therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, exposure and response prevention are helpful for treating disorders like anxiety, depression and eating disorder.
